I’m David Moorcroft, Head of Platforms

The technology platforms we use are crucial in supporting the success of the council. We delivery secure, scalable and resilient digital and technology foundations that underpin the provision of essentials services to the citizens of Birmingham.

We work in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver the right outcomes and ensure the application of best practice, principles and standards. We deliver proactive user support and provide preventative interventions to ensure our user’s needs are met.

We have adopted a platforms + agile approach and DevOps practices to boost our efficiency, deploy at pace, remove bottlenecks and bring development and platform operations closer together.

We are investing in cutting-edge technology in both infrastructure and development: migrating huge workloads to the cloud and building our own applications using low code.

The new organisation of Digital and Technology Services has allowed staff the opportunity to learn and progress their careers, which is transforming the department in how we operate, and enabling us to develop our service to be truly exceptional.
